Use to connect music keyboard synthesizers to a PC computer via the music keyboard's 'Host' output. It's a mini-DIN 8-pin jack on the back of the music keyboard. The cable goes from there to the PC's 9-pin DSub Serial communications port. Yamaha chose to wire the 'Host' output slightly differently on their keyboards.
